FlickrFling

FlickrFling is an open source project for people who wish to explore in an innovative and rather surprising way the different data feeds that form the building blocks of today’s virtual world. By pointing the application, let’s say, to the CNN news feed, you will receive the last news in real time – rendered in pictures. The application will choose for each in-coming word an image from flickr’s database tagged with corresponding keywords. Since the application searches and browses through the whole of flickr’s database, the results can be quite amusing and unpredictable…

Another possible use of the application is to link the words of an incoming feed to a specific personal set of pictures.
Take for example a flash based chat room: a person sends a piece of text to the chat, and the software searches immediately through his personal flickr database attaching the image relevant to the current conversation.
You might be chatting about your brave, beloved dog “Snoopy”, and all along the application will provide a flow of Snoopy’s pictures to the chat room itself.

We plan to release the .FLA flash source code as soon as the application and code will be debugged and presentableJ. Our intention is to provide flash developers with an easy-to-use tool for the creation of far reaching interactions based on real time feeds (we might even be inspired to improve our tagging, who knows…).

    Hello.
the application is using Flash 8 and PHP both are straight forward standard thing and there is no reason for them to crash your browser or anything like that.
can u be so kind to post (or send) me your system spec’ (cpu, ram etc) as well as ur browser version information.

    many thanks.
