After many years spent in the fields of marketing and social researches – with a particular passion for Jazz and his role in the development of the Afro-American identity – Riccardo ran into Yaniv Steiner while the latter was a teacher at the famous Interaction Design Institute Ivrea.
As a friendship begun also a partnership in work started, and a passion for technology never completely understood before.
As a programmer I started working on plugin development for Wordpress and I enjoyed building my first Linux box from an old home assembly computer in 2004 while still being Web Editor for Vodafone Italy, I felt as I was down in a coal mine searching for gold among the darkness of the coal, falling in love with LAMP.
During the years I enjoyed working on several Projects being a photographer, a video editor a web developer an event organizer and so on… everything was amazing in this industry to me, but what interested me the most – and still does – is the almost magical opportunity you have with the Internet to find, collect, parse and combine data about the most different aspects of our life and society.
In the last few years I started focusing my interest on data visualization (here is a latter example on this topic) and front-end development, while still working heavily on database and server side development, falling in love with the works of one of my personal heroes: Ben Fry.
Thanks to Yaniv back again I also found new ways to enjoy coding and technology practicing and teaching Physical Computing – even though not being very knowledgeable in electronics I had my personal approach on the matter as a Philosopher dealing with the physical to digital interactions, and as a programmer feeling the sensation of coding for something to really touch, and not only to see on the screen of a computer.
Anyway, as this adventure in design, philosophy, programming, technology goes by, I cannot leave the web where all this passion comes from and from where this trip started from…and probably still goes to.
Nastypixel, Prototype, InstantSoup and many other Projects showcased on this website are among the most successful I had ever participate to. I ow everything I know and most of my best time in the last six years to the work I’ve done in NastyPixel and with its amazing team.
Here is my resume if you want to know more about me.
